Winter Warm up!

Winter in the North East is a love-hate relationship. We complain tirelessly about the cold, and then acknowledge the season's first snow with uncontained excitement. We put snow tires on our cars and scrape sheets of ice off our windshields. For bikers, the journey to work becomes arduous, the accumulation of snow and ice on the road forces them to be more careful while factoring extra time into their commute. More than anyone else, New Englanders and Vermonters relentlessly endure winter, for better or for worse.

Many put up with the conditions just for the the reprieve of winter sports on the weekends. For those who are averse to outdoor activities this time of year, there are perks to be found in indoor activities, too. Cuddling up by a fire in your favorite hoodie while reading a book sounds like a pretty perfect day to me.

No matter which lifestyle you prefer, we all need to run errands, go to work, walk the dog and brave the cold! Layering up in your favorite scarf, a new pair of mittens or a  colorful hat can help add joy to the journey. And lucky for us Vermonters, it is perfectly acceptable to wear a winter hat and scarf for the entire day if you want to! As winter begins to come to a close, take advantage of these perks and the fun that comes with layering. It will be July before we know it, and we will be forced to survive five consecutive days of 90 degree weather. In that heat, we will be "winter" dreaming!
