The soft texture of the petals make Godetia flowers gleam like silk (giving it the common name 'Satin Flower'). The stalks are laden with blooms in the late spring - early summer, just when your garden needs an extra boost of blooms, and will continue to bloom through mid-Summer.
Godetia is rarely found for sale in garden centers, but it is very easy to grow and comes in incredible colors, like this fabulous salmon pink. Includes 50 seeds.

Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. Do not cover seeds, they need light to germinate. Water gently.
Where to Plant: Find a place that gets mostly sun or part shade, and plant 9" apart.
When to Plant: Spring, after last frost. Expect blooms: prolific early-to-mid summer bloomer.
Care Instructions: Water regularly until they get established, and then give them extra water during dry spells. Pick the flowers to encourage more blooms.
Extra Credit: When the plant is about 12" tall you can 'pinch it' which is to pinch of the main middle bud so that the plant is encouraged to be bushier and more full of blooms as it matures.
